THE 4th Infantry Division (4ID) Army men and MJM scored a night of upsets in the 2018 Travelers Invitational Basketball Tournament here on Tuesday at 4ID Gym in Barangay Patag.

The 4ID troopers made up for a bad start by handing the Eagles their first loss, 68-63 in the main event tiff for a 1-2 record with losses handed by the Integrated Bar of the Philippines Misamis Oriental Chapter (IBP-MisOr) Lawyers, including a forfeiture by the Ruffians.

Thus, the Eagles and the Ruffians shared third place at 2-1.

The NBI-10 and the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) stay unbeaten at 3-0 and 2-0 slates apiece.

Like the Army men, the undermanned MJM celebrated its first win at the expense of the Lawyers in the curtainraiser, 65-56.

MJM managed to put on a brave fight in the entire four quarters even with only five of them playing.

Judge Isagani Ravidas was quick to upload their upset victory in the newsfeed.

“Luck was in our side and our shots were counting in the final quarter,” said Ravidas, who also acknowledged the productive effort of his teammate Ian Borinaga.

MJM will try to sustain the momentum as it battles CVL/COS on Thursday night’s main event set at 7:30 pm.

The Defenders, on the other hand, can catch up the NBI-10 for the lead when they take on the Ruffians in the 6:30 pm preliminary match.
