FORMER De La Salle University Green Archers head coach Luis Gonzales is coming to Bukidnon this weekend to conduct a basketball coaching clinic for Mindanao basketball coaches.

According to organizer and Infant Jesus School-Bukidnon head coach Raymon Mercader, the clinic will be on Feb. 23-24 at the Valencia New City gym. Registration is from 7 to 9 a.m. while the clinic will officially start at 9 a.m.

Coaches from all over Mindanao like Cagayan de Oro, Bukidnon, Ozamiz, Iligan, and Davao have already registered to join the two-day clinic.

Late registrants are also welcome to join.

Gonzales was a long-time assistant coach to then DLSU and now UST coach Alain Ayo. He was appointed as head coach of DLSU last year after Ayo moved to UST.

Gonzales was replaced last December by former Qatar national team head coach Tim Lewis for the UAAP Season 82 after failing to lead the Green Archers to the top four in the UAAP season 81.

Mercader considers Gonzales as his close friend and mentor that he invited him to share his coaching knowledge to the coaches of Mindanao.
