Magsaysay team in twin cage triumphs

DEFENDING turf, Magsaysay bets scored twin victories against the visiting teams in the Kuyamis Sportsfest Basketball League Governor Yevgeny Emano Cup last week at the Magsaysay municipal courts in Misamis Oriental.

Magsaysay defeated Talisayan, 99-90 in the 25-under division then trounced Balingoan, 89-76 in the LGU senior division.

Real Butal and Ricky Macapas fired 29 and 27 points each to lead Magsaysay’s 25U victory, which saw them dominating the whole four qyarters and never gave Talisayan a taste of the lead.

Talisayan threatened to overtake in the third quarter as they came closer by three at 72-75.

But, Magsaysay stepped on the gas to pull away for good.

Bruce Porras and Kier Estroga came up with 24 and 18 markers apiece for n Talisayan’s losing cause.

Jushue Dena and Pet Mangunlay led Magsaysay with 23 and 18 points each in the seniors division.

In defeat, municipal councilors Ronnie Panulaya and Bong Santos paced Balingoan with 27 and 20 points, respectively.

Magsaysay’s 18-under squad, however, bowed down to Talisayan, 56-65 in the curtain raiser game.

Kuyamis sportsfest resumes this weekend with the Municipality of Initao serving as host.
