Tagoloan eyes to regain Kuyamis hoops supremacy

THE basketball-crazed town of Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental hopes to regain the hoops supremacy in the annually-held Kuyamis Sportsfest when it battles Opol for the premier 25-under championship on January 10 at the Capitol grounds in Cagayan de Oro.

Games for volleyball finals pit Alubijid vs Magsaysay (18U), Sugbongcogon vs Magsaysay (LGU), Initao vs Tagoloan (Women’s Open) and Initao vs Tagoloan (Men’s Open).

It can be recalled in the last season of the Kuyamis Sportsfest that Jasaan replaced Tagoloan as the 2017-2018 champion of the province’s Inter-Municipality Basketball Tournament.

This, after the Jasaan dribblers blanked the reigning titlist Tagoloan, 2-0 in their best-of-3 championship series concluded last Jan. 10.

Jasaan drubbed Tagoloan in the opener, 87-75 then repeated the feat in Game 2, 107-104 for the title glory worth P50,000 cash, courtesy of Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano.

“Exciting kaayo ang mga padula sa Kuyamis Festival ilabi na nga gapaningkamot gyod ang matag municipality mga mo-excel. Mao sab kini ang rason nga lisod pag-maintain nga madominar ang usa ka event like in basketball,” said PB member Prexy Elipe. (Lynde Salgados)
