LOW-COST carrier AirAsia is eyeing more direct flights from Cebu to domestic and international destinations as they launched their Red Hot Stop Campaign on Thursday, April 11.

To spread more awareness to the Cebuano market, Airasia opened up booths of the direct trips from Cebu to destinations in the Garden Bloc of the Cebu IT Park.

“AirAsia aims to provide more destinations to and from Cebu in the near future to connect the Cebuanos to different parts of the Philippines, Asia and beyond,” Gilberto Simpao, commercial head of Philippines AirAsia Inc., said in a statement.

Call center agents and other employees participated by posing in creative ways in the booths that featured popular tourist spots in the destination for a chance to win roundtrip tickets.

The campaign is aimed at the Cebuano market as the airline company flies directly from Cebu to six domestic destinations in Boracay via Caticlan, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Manila, Clark and Puerto Princesa.

For international destinations, the airline company flies from Cebu to Seoul, Taipei, Shenzhen, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Macau.

Simpao said they are planning to add more direct flights from Cebu, which is one of their hubs in the country.

“Cebu is actually one of our major hubs for domestic and international destinations and we are planning to add more destinations to connect Cebuanos to more destinations in the near future,” he said.

Based on requests they often get in social media, Japan is the most popular destination that travelers would want to go to.

Because of this, they will soon have a direct flight from Manila to Japan.

“Based on our social media community and other AirAsia guests and partners, we get lots of requests to fly to Japan. And we are pleased to connect Filipinos to Japan starting from Manila to Osaka, which will begin operations on July 1,” he said.
