Another round of fuel price rollback seen this week

Carlo Lorenciana

ANOTHER sigh of relief for motorists as another round of rollback in the pump prices of petroleum products is expected in the coming week.

In fuel forecast for July 19-25, 2022, Unioil Philippines said diesel is projected to go down by P1.90 to P2.10 per liter while gasoline will drop by P4.60 to P4.80 per liter.

Fuel firms usually announce price adjustment every Monday, to be implemented the following day.

The Department of Energy has factored in the dwindling economy and lockdowns in parts of the world behind the projected price rollback.

The trend may continue in the next few weeks.

With the string of rollbacks in recent weeks, diesel prices are back to P70 per liter, while gasoline prices range from P80 to P90.

Effective last Tuesday, July 12, oil companies rolled back gasoline prices by P5.70 per liter and diesel by P6.10 per liter, bringing the year-to-date adjustments to stand at a net increase of P24.30 per liter for gasoline and P36.80 per liter for diesel.
