JOB HOPEFULS, opportunities await you.

The Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) is organizing a local jobs fair on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, that is offering over 1,000 jobs for Cebuano jobseekers.

Available jobs include those in the fields of accounting, finance, engineering, production, manufacturing, sales, marketing, information technology (IT), operations and medical, among others.

Dubbed as “Trabaho Ta Bai!”, the jobs fair, taking place at the Oakridge Pavilion in Mandaue City, is offering jobs based in Mandaue and Cebu cities, and outside Cebu province.

“In line with the growing business community not only in Mandaue but in Cebu, there is really a greater demand for workforce,” said Gio Gandionco, chairman of the job event, which is part of the Mandaue Business Month 2019 celebration.

“We wanted to give the opportunity to companies all over Mandaue and Cebu to find the best employees they can have, and also for applicants to find good jobs. We believe that employees are really the core of every business, especially with the job market now and how difficult it is to find a job,” Gandionco said.

Based on Cebuano jobsite Mynimo.com’s January to May 2019 data, the business process management (BPM) industry is among the top industries that posted significant hiring in Cebu.

As of end 2018, the BPM sector posted an employment of around 160,000. Others include maritime, tourism, manufacturing, agriculture, medical, media and administration.

Company vacancies were mostly noted in industries of sales and marketing, accounting, administration, engineering and IT, said Mynimo president Wesley Chiongbian, in an earlier interview.

He said most of the companies that are hiring are located in Cebu City, where most regional headquarters of big companies are located.

In the first five months of the year, Cebu City saw a 20 percent growth in company hirings.

Cebu City is followed in rankings by Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, Talisay City and Consolacion.

Job hiring for Cebu province grew 16 percent during the same period.

Meanwhile, the upcoming MCCI jobs fair will also bring various government agencies under one roof to provide special services to applicants.

State-run Pag-ibig will accept first-time registrants and process renewals of multi-purpose loans, while the Mandaue City Government will be providing cedulas, occupational taxes and professional tax receipts.

PhilHealth will accept submissions of Philheath member registration forms and inquiries. Applicants whose forms are submitted during the fair will be prioritized when they obtain their Pag-ibig number and ID processing at the agency’s office.

SSS will also provide inquiry services and SSS Unified Multi-Purpose ID processing to pre-registered applicants.

There are 37 companies participating in the one-day jobs fair.
