ACTOR Robert Downey Jr. is joining the directors of “Avengers: Infinity War” in calling for fans to maintain secrecy.

The star tweeted: “I trust you all can keep a secret... no spoilers please :) #ThanosDemandsYourSilence.”

Thanos is the fictional Marvel Comics villain who will be portrayed by Josh Brolin in the movie. Downey plays Iron Man.

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo went on Twitter to tell fans they would be screening a limited amount of footage prior to the film’s release on April 27. They say “only a handful of people know the film’s true plot.”

They asked fans to maintain the same level of secrecy so that they don’t spoil it for others.

“To the greatest fans in the world,” the Russo brothers wrote, “we’re about to embark on the ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ press tour. We will be visiting fans all over the world screening only a limited amount of selected footage from the film in order to avoid spoiling the story for future viewers.”

The film will be screened in full only during the Los Angeles premiere, which will be shortly before the global premiere.

“Everyone involved with the film has worked incredibly hard for the past two years maintaining the highest level of secrecy,” the Russo brothers continued. “Only a handful of people know the film’s true plot.”

The directors are hoping that the fans maintain the same level of secrecy with the people behind the film. They want fans to have the same experience when they see the film for the first time.

“Don’t spoil it for others the same way you wouldn’t want it spoiled for you,” the letter also said. The brothers also used the same hashtag: #ThanosDemandsYourSilence. (AP with JGA)
