Cuenco: Fashion, footwear by Ferragamo

Joanna Cuenco

THE glass-walled poolside clubhouse of 32 Sanson by Rockwell, Lahug was transformed into a pop-up boutique open to Cebu’s well-heeled set to shop for Salvatore Ferragamo’s Pre-fall 2019 collection for men and women. When it came to fashionable footwear, the display included not only the brand’s unique floral-shaped heel and iconic block heels, but also classic loafers and loafers with a collapsible back. Of course, the brand’s widely popular flats were on display, in the classic Vara style that is the most sought-after Ferragamo style worldwide, and pointed-toe shapes still with a signature bow. There were about as many handbags available as shoe styles, ranging from small, simple purses and men’s clutch bags in supple leather, to structured purses with Gancini clasps.

The Gancini, the round ornamentation inspired by the ironwork on the gates of the Florentine Headquarter, has been produced by Ferragamo since the ‘70s as hardware on shoes and bags. It is the focus of a new jacquard print introduced by the brand’s new creative director, Paul Andrew, and is a modern translation of the Italian fashion house’s icon symbolizing heritage, strength and togetherness.
