Utzurrum: Waterfront Mactan tree lighting

Chinggay V. Utzurrum

AS I was thumbing through my Nostalgia Box, I came across some yellowed Bachelors-Femina invitations circa 1962/1963, which brought sentimental thoughts through my brain.

Truly it has been a healthy Bachelors-Femina (BF) season since 1919, the year BF was born! And this year, BF will celebrate 100 years of existence!

Remember when? All the single gals and guys in the city would look forward to the formal reception and ball, on Dec. 28, at the Casino Español.

Well, we have news, folks. BF will commemorate its Centennial this year, with a simple dinner on Saturday Dec. 28, 7 p.m. at the Cervantes Room of Casino Español.

Be there and I am counting on you: Delia Aliño-Villacastin, Nena Deen-Gomez, Gingging Unchuan-Suchoski, John Henry Osmeña, Benito Unchuan, Elma Garcia-Muangkroot, Nelia Garcia-Neri, Alvin Garcia etc. Call Perla Agudo for details: 273-2565.

They called it the Golden Glare of Christmas with gold, the glamorous hue representing “prosperity, achievement and success,” greeted Rex Benhur Caballes, general manager of Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino (WAHC), as guests gathered at the hotel lobby anticipating the lighting of the towering tree. Select personalities from the government and airport sector added pizazz to the event.

More color and glamor were shown with the presence of the Binibining Lapu-Lapu candidates and Ginoong Pilipino hunks! Even the hotel’s executive chef Tristan Encarnacion did not disappoint with his gastronomic treasures as well as local sikwate and kakanins.

Of special mention to general manager Benhur; muchas gracias for the delicious Gingerbread House you gave us for the season, Super generous, much appreciated!
