TEN persons were caught during an Oplan Silhig by operatives from Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 who simultaneously served search and arrests warrants in Talisay City yesterday morning.

Operatives seized illegal drugs, loose firearms, and illegal gambling machines.

Among those caught were Gloria Bazar for an illegal drugs case and Raymond Oca and Argie Manayon, for possession of a sachet of illegal drugs. Gilbert Campo yielded 20 small sachets of shabu while Julyper Lapay had a medium-sized and 14 small sachets. Mole-mole gambling machines were seized from Redgie Barrientos, Canora Campo, and Duane Paraiso.

Loose firearms were confiscated from Junlix Abrenica and Leonilo Brigondo, police said. Abrenica had an AR15 Colt rifle while Brigondo had a caliber .45 pistol.

The Highway Patrol Group (HPG) also impounded 10 motorcycles after their drivers failed to present registration and licenses.

Senior Insp. Michael Gingoyon, chief of the HPG-Cebu Province, said they conducted checkpoints to check if there were any stolen or wanted motorcycles in the area. Gingoyon said that during their operations, they often intercept stolen motorcycles and other vehicles. This would also deter motorcycle-riding gunmen, Gingoyon said. (JOB)
