TWO persons, believed to be hitmen, were arrested in Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City, for illegal possession of firearms.

Nabbed were Tommy Pentado Oyanguren and Mamerto Abellana Rollo around 11:50 p.m. of August 14. Police said the two were on standby, waiting for their intended target.

The arrest happened while personnel of Police Station 7 of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) were conducting "foot patrol and intensified police operations" against all forms of illegal activities in Sitio Upper Torre, Barangay Inayawan.

Confiscated from Oyanguren and Rollo were a cellphone, caliber .45 pistol with one magazine loaded with live ammunition, and a Smith and Wesson handgun loaded with live ammunition.

CCPO Chief Royina Garma said the two could be among those involved in the spate of killings in the province. (SunStar Philippines)
