TWO Chinese nationals who are members of a kidnap-for-ransom group were arrested in their safehouse in Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

Rescued from the safehouse was another Chinese national who was reportedly kidnapped and tortured by the suspects.

The rescue operation was conducted by members of the Philippine National Police (PNP)-Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG 7) Visayas Field Unit, with assistance from the Lapu-Lapu City Police City headed by its director Police Colonel Arnel Banzon and other units of Police Regional Office-Central Visayas.

Initial report stated that the suspects tortured the victim as they were asking for a big amount of money from him.

The rescue operation happened on May 7, 2022 but was only reported Wednesday, May 25, due to the ongoing follow-up operation against other members of the kidnap-for-ransom group. (Guam P. Logroño/LMY)
