TWO minors died after they were shot by two unidentified men in Barangay Babag, Lapu-Lapu City past 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2019.

Manap Mapintao, 17, and his companion Paul Villareal, 16, were attacked while they were riding a tricycle. The victims were neighbors in Sitio Sudtunggan, Barangay Basak.

The motorcycle-riding assailants had trailed the victims before the shooting happened near a convenience store in Babag, the Police Station (PS) 3 investigation revealed.

One of the culprits shot Mapintao first. He was the tricycle driver.

After seeing Mapintao’s body slumped on the road, Villareal jumped out of the tricycle and ran. The gunman gave chase and shot him, killing him in the process. The killer got back on a motorcycle, which was driven by another man. Then they left.

Police would check the profile of the victims to determine the motive behind the attack.

Investigators from the PS 3 have coordinated with their counterparts at the PS 4 as the latter possibly know the background of the victims. Basak is under the PS 4 jurisdiction.

Security cameras of the establishments near the crime scene would be checked also. (From GCM of SuperBalita Cebu, KAL)
