THE Cebu City Government will give P10 million to three local government units (LGUs) hit by the series of earthquakes in Mindanao.

The Council gave Mayor Edgardo Labella approval to use the money.

Labella said he will give the assistance after the group of Councilor Dave Tumulak returned from checking the affected LGUs in Mindanao.

The three LGUs to benefit from the City’s aid are the towns of Makilala and Tulunan in North Cotabato and Magsaysay in Davao del Sur. They are said to be the ones damaged the most by the earthquakes last week. Thousands of residents per town were rendered homeless and are in evacuation centers.

The P10 million will be used to purchase bottled water, tarpaulin, mosquito nets, medicine and hygiene kits.

The City Government will also ship relief goods donated by the public via Cokaliong Shipping Lines going to Nasipit, and from there to the three LGUs. (PAC)
