30 Mandaue anti-narcotics operatives undergo surprise drug test

THIRTY people from the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) underwent a surprise drug test on Monday, Feb. 10, 2020.

P/Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla, MCPO deputy director for operations, said subjecting the operatives to drug tests is part of the organization’s internal cleansing program.

“This is the first for the year, but sunod-sunod na ni siya (there will be more tests in the coming days),” said Parilla.

The police officers must undergo regular drug testing as it is a mandatory requirement. However, all units conduct drug tests unannounced to catch off-guard those police officers who are hooked on illegal drugs.

If a police officer tests positive for drugs, Parilla said he would be relieved from his post and transferred to the Police Regional Office Office 7-Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit for an investigation. (KFD)
