4 ‘illegal loggers’ nabbed in Oslob

FOUR men were arrested on Sunday afternoon, April 8, for illegal logging in Barangay Poblacion, Oslob, Cebu.

Suspects Venancio Balansag, Joseph Balansag, Ruben Tolentino and Reynaldo Nebril were caught by the personnel of Oslob Police Station and Regional Mobile Force Batallion-Central Visayas.

The joint team, led by Oslob Police Chief Clemente Ceralde Jr., seized logs of tamarind and alom trees worth P108,162.40.

The suspects' chainsaw was also confiscated.

Ceralde's team turned over the logs to Argao Community Environment and Natural Resources Office.

Suspects will be facing complains for violating Republic Act 9175, which penalizes the unlawful use of chainsaw, and Presidential Decree 705, which prohibits cutting of trees without permit form Department of Environment and Natural Resources. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
