51 vehicles clamped in mandaue

DESPITE the observance of Osmeña Day on Monday Sept. 9, 2019, the personnel of the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (Team) continued to clamp vehicles illegally parked in the city’s streets.

Since the first week of September, Team has put clamps on 51 vehicles, most of which are sports utility vehicles.

Team head Florentino Nimor Jr. said there are still drivers who could not understand that parking along national highways and main thoroughfares can cause traffic. So even if Cebu was observing a holiday on Monday, he said the personnel of Team continued to apprehend violators of the ordinance that prohibits illegal parking. Employees from the City Treasurer’s Office accompanied Team; they issued official receipts to violators who paid their fines right away.

Meanwhile, Team has continued its study on new routes; it would coordinate with Consolacion town’s traffic agency so they could come up with ways to reduce traffic jams in the two local government units.

Team operations head Mario Gacko said the office often lacks personnel who could manage the traffic during Saturdays and Sundays when most workers from the countrysides travel back to their homes. The high volume of passengers and vehicles often creates heavy traffic along the national highway.

Gacko said Team has requested more trainings and additional personnel so it could continue its traffic management during weekends. FROM ANV OF SUPERBALITA CEBU
