60 AstraZeneca doses wasted in Central Visayas

THE Department of Health (DOH) Central Visayas said that around 60 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) were wasted.

In a virtual press briefing Thursday, September 23, Doctor Van Philip Baton, medical officer IV DOH-Central Visayas, said that the wastage occurred during the first days of Covid-19 vaccination program wherein medical personnel were not so familiar on how to use the EDC syringe.

"Kasagaran sa mga factor kay di kahibawo mo-operate sa EDC syringe once you pull it out di na mahimung ibalik. Di pa in-ana ka train during the early part of vaccination sauna," Baton said.

Meanwhile, Baton said that he has to wait for an official report of vaccine wastage for the region as of press time. (MVE)
