“CHRISTIANITY is not simply a religion; Christianity is a relationship.”

This is what mass presider, Msgr. Roberto "Boy" Alesna, highlighted in his homily during the Holy Mass celebrated at Cebu City Sports Center on Sunday, January 19, 2020.

Alesna emphasized the kind of relationship where unity is being promoted in the family, community, church, and among the officials of the Cebu Province, Cebu City Government and the National Government.

He also pointed out the importance of the two commandments: loving God and loving one’s neighbor.

He said Christians and devotees should not separate these commandments.

“How can we love God and does not love his neighbor?” said Alesna.

He also thanked the officials of Cebu City, Cebu Province, and the National Government for showing unity to the people.

The Holy Mass was attended by Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, some members of the Provincial Board, Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella, Vice Mayor Michael Rama, members of the Cebu City Council, and officials of Sinulog Foundation Inc. and Sinulog Governing Board.

The Sinulog grand parade will start after the mass. A total of 31 contingents are performing in this year’s Sinulog Festival. (JJL)
