Cebu police to assist all health workers

THE Cebu Police Provincial Director commanded the chief of police in every municipality to assist health workers in going to their respective hospitals where they work, in order to protect them, as some of them have experienced abuse amid panic over the Covid-19 pandemic.

Police Colonel Roderick Mariano, chief of police of the Cebu Provincial Government instructed to use the police cars as a transportation service for these frontliners. Social distancing and wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE) given by the Capitol should be strictly observed while aboard.

He is also requesting the local government officials to provide free transportation for frontliners who play very important roles in fighting against the corona virus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Included in his command is to allow more convenient access to delivery vehicles carrying food and essential goods for these are much needed since people are not allowed to go out their homes.

While Police Brigadier General Albert Ignatius Ferrero said that the incident on March 27, 2020 involving a nurse who was allegedly poured chlorine by two unidentified men along Tres de Abril was not true according to a barangay official.

He said: "We have a development in this story. This has not been proven true. Those men were disinfecting the barangay, splattering chlorine which accidentally hit the feet of the nurse who was passing by the area."

The Cebu City Police will still conduct further investigation such as getting statement from the witnesses and reviewing the CCTV (closed-circuit television) camera in the area. (AYB / MMC)
