CONTINUING the efforts in the anti-drug campaign, reducing crime incidents and improving the police stations in Cebu Province are among the projects Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 Director Debold Sinas wants to work on with the incoming administration of the Cebu Provincial Government.

Sinas was at the Capitol on Friday, June 21, 2019, to inform outgoing governor and incoming vice governor Hilario Davide III of the changes in the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) leadership.

Police Colonel Manuel Abrugena, CPPO director, was relieved from his post for a new assignment in Manila.

Police Colonel Roderick Mariano, Abrugena’s classmate in the Philippine National Police Academy Class of 1995, will replace him as CPPO director.

A turnover ceremony for Abrugena and Mariano is tentatively scheduled on Tuesday, June 25.

During their short meeting, Davide praised the police for their peace and order efforts, while Sinas also expressed his gratitude to Davide for supporting the police.

“Siya pa man ang (He is still the) governor, so I have to inform him. After this, I will also visit governor-elect Gwen Garcia to inform her also,” Sinas said in an interview.

With the assumption of newly elected officials, Sinas said he looks forward to strengthening the efforts against illegal drugs, and continuing the internal cleansing in the police force, reducing crimes and improving police stations.

He further said that only 26 of 53 towns and cities in the province have standard police stations.

“We have a good relationship (with the Capitol). Hopefully, we will continue that,” Sinas said.

The police official also asked the incoming mayors to help PRO 7 in securing funds for the improvement of police stations.

Davide, for his part, has yet to confirm his attendance to the CPPO event since he also has to meet with the new set of Provincial Board members on the same day.

Last Tuesday, June 18, Davide stepped down from his seat as Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) 7 chairman as he is preparing for his assumption of the vice governorship.

He was awarded with a plaque of recognition by RPOC’s officers and members for leading the body since 2016. (RTF)
