THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Cebu City reiterated its reminder to candidates who ran during the May 9, 2022 national and local elections to submit their Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (Soce) on or before June 8.

Marilou Paredes, acting election officer of Comelec Cebu City South District, said Friday, May 27, 2022 that so far, only Pie Abella of the Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan has filed a Soce.

Abella ran for councilor for Cebu City's South District but did not make it to the top eight.

Despite this, Paredes said losing candidates should still file their Soce so that they will not encounter a problem should they run again next election.

Paredes also reminded all the winning candidates to file their Soce to avoid delays when they assume office on June 30.

"Please file on or before June 8, 2022, so that you will be cleared sa inyong mga documents nga kinahanglan (of the needed documents) when you assume office," said Paredes.

Section 14 of Republic Act 7166 states that the Soce should contain the "full, true and itemized statement of all contributions and expenditures in connection with the election." (IRT)
