DA 7, cooperative initiate online store to help local farmers in time of Covid-19

RESIDENTS in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu can now order vegetables, fruits, fish, meat and other basic commodities online after the Department of Agriculture (DA) 7 and Cebu People’s Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CPMPC) signed the memorandum of understanding for the implementation of the Katuwang sa Diwa at Gawa (Kadiwa) Online-On-Wheels Market on April 30, 2020.

In a Facebook post, the DA 7 said the "Kadiwa online supports fhe food resiliency program of the DA, ensuring food accessibility and affordability" in this time of crisis brought about by the novel coronavirus disease.

All products are produced by farmers who are members of the cooperative and beneficiaries of Production Loan Easy Access of the DA Agricultural Credit Policy Council.

The DA 7 and CPMPC agreed to have a mutual support in providing unhampered movement of agri-produce and products within Cebu.

The CPMPC will provide the mobility and other logistical support while the DA 7 will link them with the farmers.

There is no minimum order and customers have the option on they want to receive their order, whether through pickup or delivery.

The customer should fill up the necessary details such as complete name and contact number.
