THE dead body of a septuagenarian was found in Sitio Cantipla 2 in the mountain barangay of Tabonan, Cebu City last Saturday night, March 25, 2023.

Major Albert Valicer, head of the Police Community Precinct in neighboring Barangay Adlaon, said the remains of 72-year-old Edilberto Rebonsa, a resident of Barangay Babag, were discovered past 7 p.m.

Valicer said that after they received the call about the discovery, they immediately informed Rebonsa’s family.

The police officer said the family had reported his disappearance to authorities more than a month ago.

When they arrived at the scene, a family member identified the victim based on the clothes he had on.

Valicer said the body was already in an advanced state of decomposition.

One of Rebosa’s children told police that the victim suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, whose symptoms include memory loss and losing track of dates or knowing current location, among others.

Police learned that the victim used to frequent the site where his body was found back when he was a young farmer.

Police believed Rebosa slipped and fell on the slippery slope. (BBT / PJB)
