A 52-YEAR-OLD widow was found dead inside her house after she allegedly committed suicide due to depression in Sitio Patag, Barangay Bawo, Sogod town in northern Cebu on Monday morning, July 4, 2022.

Staff Sergeant Avito Mansing of Sogod Police Station identified the victim as Eve (real name withheld).

Mansing told SunStar Cebu that they received a call from a concerned citizen around 7:40 a.m. informing them about the incident.

Mansing said the victim might have killed herself late afternoon of July 3 as her body already started to stiffen when they arrived at the scene.

The victim was hanging on a beam of her house with a rope tied on her neck when found.

The family of the victim rushed Eve to Sogod Rural Health Unit and later transferred her to Sogod District Hospital but failed in their efforts to revive her.

Eve was living with her 14-year-old niece as her children already have their own families.

Mansing said that according to her neighbors, Eve might have been depressed by the passing of her husband last year.

"Daghan kaayo siya ug problema nga nagpatong-patong unya wala ka share-an sa problema iya ra giluom-luom mao ni resulta sa iyang paghikog," Mansing said.

(She had many problems and she kept these to herself, the reason why she committed suicide).

She was also struggling financially due to her worsening health condition. (GDC, TPT)
