A TAXICAB driver was found dead inside his taxi unit parked in a gasoline station in Barangay Tipolo, Mandaue City at 8 a.m. Sunday, July 24, 2022.

The man was identified as Warlito Morejon Labajo, 49 and a resident of Barangay San Vicente, Liloan in northern Cebu.

Based on the investigation led by Police Senior Master Sergeant Joelister Ligaray, Labajo was noticed by one of the attendants of the gasoline station where his taxi was parked.

Ligaray said the attendant called for an immediate rescue of the driver after finding the latter unconscious.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) led by Vince Perez attended to Labajo but the latter had no vital signs when they checked on him.

Labajo’s remains were brought to a funeral parlor. His belongings were handed over to his wife, and the taxi unit was taken care of by his company.

His wife told the police that he had a heart attack before but survived.

On Sunday dawn, the wife said her husband complained of dizziness via text messaging and she told him to come home.

Ligaray said they already requested the police crime laboratory to conduct an autopsy on Labajo’s body to know the cause of the driver’s death.
