A 28-YEAR-OLD MAN who had been to prison four times for drug-related charges was shot dead by two men riding on a motorcycle in Barangay Kamagayan, Cebu City past 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022.

The fatality was identified as Jayson Samson Borces, who was shot while he was resting in a chair outside a house in Fatima, a sitio located in Kamagayan’s interior. It was raining at the time of the incident.

Borces, a resident of San Jose, a mountain village in the city, succumbed to gunshot wounds on one side of his cheeks and in the neck, according to officer Rommel Bancog of the Parian Police Station.

Police recovered four spent shells of a firearm of yet-to-be-identified caliber in the crime scene.

Bancog said they are looking into Borces’ personal history as he had made enemies while he was still involved in the illegal drug trade.

Borces’ gay live-in partner told SunStar Cebu had been arrested for selling and possessing illegal drugs and paraphernalia, violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The partner said in his three years of living with Borces, he had always advised him to mend his ways.

Borces’ partner’s sister described the victim as a good man who was always nice to her. The victim did not tell them if he had received threats on his life.
