Former campus scribes, law school alumni to hold Sinulog gathering

THE members of The Visayanian Staffers Alumni Association (VSAA) and University of the Visayas (UV) Law Class ‘63 will hold their joint pre-Sinulog get-together at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, at the Ecotech Center in Sudlon, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.

VSAA members are former student journalists writing for The Visayanian, UV’s official publication.

The groups’ roster includes respected journalists like lawyer Pachico A. Seares, the former editor-in-chief and current public and standards editor of SunStar Cebu.

Other members are former The Freeman publisher Jerry Tundag, Jesse Bacon and lawyers Eddie Barrita, Fritz Quiñanola (who is also a retired police general), Frank Malilong and Elias Espinoza.

Barrita, Malilong and Espinoza write columns for SunStar Cebu and Superbalita Cebu. In broadcasting, Malilong and Espinoza host the popular talk show “Frankahay Ta” on radio dyCM.

Former Court of Appeals Cebu Station presiding justice Portia Aliño-Hormachuelos, former Regional Trial Court judge Benjie Cobarde and former executive labor arbiter Rey Belarmino are also part of the clique. (S)
