THE third rehabilitation site for the victims of super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) was inaugurated by France-Philippines United Action Foundation (FPUA) in-northern Cebu on Dec. 2, 2017.

FPUA built 46 disaster resilient houses in the site in Barangay Cayang, Bogo City. The construction was made possible after the group received a land from the City Government and funds from Cités Unies France (Cuf).

The site development followed. A few months later, the beneficiaries gained access to electricity and water.

FPUA also constructed a multipurpose center with its partners’ help. The group commenced the construction of the 60-square-meter center in January 2018, completed it in February 2019 and opened it last May 28.

The construction of FPUA’s multipurpose center was made possible through the financial assistance from Cuf, the German Embassy in Manila, World Wide Food Distribution, Jefpag Foundation and Moët Hennessy Philippines. Republic Cement and Onduline Philippines also supported the project.

The multipurpose center is intended to provide a safe place and venue for the community to come together for fellowship, recreation and educational activity.

Meetings and other functions could also be held at the center.

For its part, FPUA will use the center to continue its community-enrichment activities, trainings, seminars and health missions, among others. It could also serve as an evacuation center in times of calamity.

The multipurpose center’s inauguration was also the time for FPUA’s representatives and their partners to discuss their upcoming development programs that will benefit the community.

Sometime in June, FPUA and Nutriset will launch a program that will teach parents in improving the nutritional statuses of their children between 0-5 years old. Nutriset is a world leader in the development and manufacture, and distribution of nutritional products that aim to prevent or treat different types of malnutrition.

In line with Republic Act 11148, or more popularly known as the First 1,000 Days law, FPUA and Nutriset will contribute to the proper growth and development of mothers and children.
