Global Shapers Cebu Hub holds Sugod Expo

INSPIRING others to transform social good into social impact, the Global Shapers Cebu Hub held its Sugod Expo on June 30, 2019 at the Mountain Wing of SM Seaside City in Cebu City.

The expo gathered aspiring social entrepreneurs and advocacy supporters as well as individuals, agencies and organizations involved in doing social good activities.

Sugod Expo, which was open to the public, featured Filipino-American television actress and social good advocate Antoinette Taus as the keynote speaker.

The event also showcased the booths of social enterprise organizations, a panel of Cebuano changemakers, homegrown music performances from Kadasig, speed networking and raffle prizes.

Sugod is a comprehensive eight-session program that ran from April until June 2019 to help equip aspiring social enterprises with the fundamentals of starting or sustaining a business with social impact.

The Sugod Expo was the culminating activity to celebrate the success of the Sugod sessions and highlight the social enterprise Sugod scholars who have joined the program.

The organizing body of Sugod, the Global Shapers Community Cebu, is part of a worldwide network of hubs committed to create local positive impact in their respective cities.

As part of the youth arm of the World Economic Forum, the Global Shapers Community Cebu hub is composed of young leaders aged 20 to 33 with the common desire to help improve the state of the world and of Cebu.

The Cebu hub is guided by its four pillars of engagement: Citizen Engagement, Environmental Conservation, Business Development and Universal Education.
