JCI Cebu members volunteer to plant 15K tree seedlings

AT LEAST 15,000 tree seedlings will be planted on a strip of land in Barangay Tabunan, Cebu City on Saturday morning, Feb. 29, 2020.

Interested Cebuanos are invited to join the event dubbed as “Cebu Communitrees: Tree Planting a Love that Lasts,” a month-ender event by the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Cebu.

Narra trees

JCI Cebu aims to plant 15,000 narra trees and create a forest in a government-owned lot near tourist attractions like Sirao Garden.

The group also targets to plant not less than 100,000 trees in different locations across Cebu before the year ends. It started with 1,000 trees last Feb. 22 on a vacant lot in Barangay Tabunok, Santa Fe, Bantayan Island.

Interested volunteers are encouraged to drop a message in the Cebu Communitrees official Facebook page or send a text message to 09171607891.

The tree-planting initative is in collaboration with the Cebu City Environment and Natural Resources Office, Rotary Club Cebu East, Aznar Quarry and the Cebu City Government. (S)
