LAWYER-broadcaster Juril Patiño was arrested Monday afternoon, July 22, 2019, while submitting pleadings at the Cebu City Hall of Justice.

Patiño was arrested by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Central Visayas after almost two years of evading arrest.

A 13-year-old girl accused Patiño of rape on July 13, 2017.

The lawyer-broadcaster earlier denied the allegations, saying he would not risk his reputation by doing what is accused of him.

Lawyer Tomas Enrile, NBI regional director, said Patiño was arrested by virtue of the arrest warrant issued by Judge Marlon Moneva of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) 7 Branch 20.

Enrile said they will return the warrant to the issuing court on Tuesday, July 23, then commit Patiño to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.

Patiño is in the custody of the NBI. (WBS)
