A LOW-PRESSURE area (LPA) is spotted 1,855 kilometers east southeast of Mindanao and is expected to traverse the southern portion of Visayas, next week.

However, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the LPA is less likely to develop into a tropical cyclone.

Pagasa Visayas Weather Specialist Jhomer Eclarino said during a weather forecast on Friday, January 21, 2022, that the LPA may still bring moderate to heavy rain and people living in vulnerable areas should be on alert for possible flashfloods and landslides.

Eclarino said the localized thunderstorms and the northeast monsoon may bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rain showers and thunderstorms. / IRT
