THE Mandaue City Government has purchased 27 multi-purpose dump trucks for all barangays in the city that will be delivered in batches.

According to the Facebook (FB) post of the Mandaue City Public Information Office, the first batch of the six-wheeler dump trucks arrived on Wednesday, July 8, 2020.

Mayor Jonas Cortes together with City Councilor Carmelino del Mar Jr. turned over nine dump trucks to the barangay captains of Alang-Alang, Bakilid, Cambaro, Casili, Casuntingan, Centro, Labogon, Looc and Tipolo Friday afternoon, July 10, at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.

The vehicles have the barangay’s name sticker on the front portion.

Cortes said they prioritized barangays that needed the dump trucks the most because their existing dump trucks were either damaged or could no longer be used.

The City Government gave these dump trucks as assistance so barangays could provide better services to constituents.

The vehicles can be used for relief operations, disaster preparedness, garbage disposal, hauling of equipment and other purposes.

Cortes assured that the other 18 barangays will receive dump trucks in the next batch.

“The delivery was delayed due to Covid-19 (coronavirus disease 2019),” said Cortes.

Barangays Alang-Alang and Tipolo posted on their official FB pages that they were grateful for the City Government’s assistance and that the dump trucks would be of great help to improve their services. (KFD)
