Mayor to resurrect moral enforcers, other commissions

Sunnexdesk

THE boards, commissions and other special bodies that deal with traffic problems, guard morals and keep mendicants off the streets in Cebu City will be reconvened by Mayor Edgardo Labella.

Some of these offices include the Cebu City Anti-Indecency Board (Caib), the Cebu City Transportation Office Board and Cebu City Anti-Mendicancy Board. These were reportedly neglected during the time of former mayor Tomas Osmeña.

Labella has tasked the City Administrator’s Office to identify these offices so his office could set aside funds.

However, there are commissions that are doing their respective obligations like the Cebu City Bantay Dagat Commission, which recently seized nearly 1,000 kilos of blasted fish.

The Cebu City Government has around 60 boards, commissions, committees and councils. But Osmeña convened only a few of these.

The City Administrator’s Office, led by lawyer Flor Casas Jr., has yet to finish its evaluation; it would announce in the comings days the boards, commissions and councils that are worthy of being reactivated. (from PAC of SuperBalita Cebu/KAL)
