IN RESPONSE to the recent fire that hit Sitio Paradise in Barangay Looc, Mandaue City, the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) has extended its full support to the Mandaue City Government’s efforts to fast-track the implementation of a temporary transition housing program for the estimated 700 families who lost their homes, through the program “Pasilong Para sa Paradise sa Pasko.”

“Pasilong” is a Cebuano term for shelter. Aptly so, “Pasilong Para sa Paradise sa Pasko” aims to provide temporary transitional housing for the displaced families through the generosity of donor companies, institutions and individuals. The program will be implemented in four phases with the first phase of 100 homes targeted for turnover to the beneficiaries within December 2022.

The estimated cost for each house is P70,000.

MCCI aims to bridge and channel donations between the private sector and the Mandaue City Government to accelerate the construction of 700 homes for the 2,500 victims of the fire-hit Sitio Paradise in Barangay Looc.

MCCI director Beverly Dayanan, chairperson of the Pasilong Para sa Paradise sa Pasko Program, said: “Together with the Mandaue City Government, MCCI aims to ensure that these displaced families will have at least a temporary home this Christmas pending the construction of the National Government’s Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Program.

“It will be such a joy for us to share the true meaning of Christmas by sharing our blessings to those in need and we appeal to your generous hearts to give a family a home for Christmas,” Dayanan said.
