MCIAA, PCG Central Visayas to conduct first sea crash simulation in the country

TO ENHANCE search and rescue capability of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District Central Visayas are set to conduct the first ever sea crash simulation exercise in the country.

The simulation exercise will be held at Magellan Bay in Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City Friday afternoon, November 29,2019.

PCG Central Visayas spokesperson Lieutenant Junior Grade Michael John Encina said the exercise is a precautionary measure for any maritime incidents involving planes.

"This would also be a good avenue for us to enhance our search and rescue operation. It's a simulation. The initual information of the incident wil be coming from the MCIAA. May mga (there are) dummy na victims," he said.

Other participating agencies include the Philippine National Police Maritime Group, Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office in Lapu Lapu, Red Cross, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines. (WBS)
