MCWD renews Abejo supply contract

CONSUMERS of the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) living in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City will continue to get a steady supply of water as the utility renews its contract with Abejo Water Corps.

The renewed bulk water supply contract signed on Friday, May 19, 2023, allows Abejo to continue supplying MCWD consumers of up to 1,500 cubic meters per day, as it had done for the last 10 years.

Guadalupe is one of the areas in Cebu City facing water scarcity due to inadequate water supply.

MCWD said it has been tirelessly working to develop new water sources to increase its demand coverage and enhance water supply in areas where 24-hour supply is not available.

The supply from Lusaran, which will reach Barangay Guadalupe, is expected to improve the water situation in the area.

With the additional volume from Lusaran, MCWD said it will soon resume accepting applications for new water services from Guadalupe residents.

The water district is also expecting an initial delivery of 10,000 cubic meters of water per day from a desalination plant in Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City.

This additional volume will benefit residents of Guadalupe and other barangays in the southern part of Cebu City. (PR)
