Monsignor Abella passes away

MONSIGNOR Adelito Abella, who formerly served as chancellor of the Archdiocese of Cebu, has passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022. He was 75.

The Archdiocese announced Abella’s death on its official Facebook page.

According to the Archdiocese, Abella has served as part of Cebu’s clergy for 50 years not just as parish priest and team moderator for various parishes, but also as professor and formator in the Archdiocesan Seminaries.

Though he has since retired from the active parish ministry, Abella continued to serve as a college seminary professor until his death.

Abella is well-known in the Archdiocese for his role as chancellor during the time of the late Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal.

The Archdiocese will provide details of Abella’s wake and funeral at a later date. (JKV)
