AROUND P11.5 million worth of suspected shabu were recovered from two women during separate buy-bust operations in Barangays Mambaling and Calamba in Cebu City on Saturday, Dec. 15.

Anti-illegal drug enforcement operatives of the Pardo Police Station arrested Jeanrea Tabalin, 21, a resident of the said area, after they recovered 13 large packs and one extra large pack of suspected shabu inside her house in Sitio Camansi, Barangay Mambaling at around 4 p.m.

The recovered shabu, which weighed 1.6 kilograms, has an estimated market value of P10.8 million.

Also recovered were Tabalin’s cellphone, which will be used by police to determine her illegal drug contacts.

Chief Insp. Regino Maramag Jr., Pardo Police Station chief, said it took two months to survey Tabalin’s illegal operations.

Maramag said Tabalin’s name came up in their intelligence reports following their “One Time, Big Time” operations last Dec. 1 when they were able to confiscate P36.3 million worth of illegal drugs.

Tabalin is believed to be a “drop-off” for illegal drug suppliers.

Maramag said that based on information, Tabalin was able to dispose more drugs and the recovered 1.6 kilos was just what was left of her supply.

Tabalin could reportedly dispose of more than a kilo of shabu within a week, thus her status as a big-time drug player in Cebu City.

Tabalin’s father was also detained at the Cebu City Jail for selling illegal drugs.

Maramag believes Tabalin’s father has connections with illegal drug players, but they need further investigation to confirm it.

“He was in the (illegal drugs) target list and is considered as a high-value target. He is often the drop-off point for more than three kilos of shabu,” Maramag said.

Tabalin’s father was detained when President Rodrigo Duterte assumed office.

Thirty minutes later after the younger Tabalin’s arrest, anti-drug operatives of the San Nicolas Police Station recovered P680,000 worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Quijano Compound, Barangay Calamba, in the same city.

Police arrested Gertrudes Tangub Delos Santos, 49, a resident of Sitio Looban, Barangay Tejero, in the same city.

Both women will be charged with violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act for illegal possession and selling of illegal drugs. From AYB and HBL of Superbalita Cebu / JKV
