TROPICAL Storm Amang went toward Southern Luzon, prompting the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Sciences Administration (Pagasa) to lift the tropical cyclone warning signal number one over Northern Cebu and Eastern Bohol.

At first, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Central Visayas reported 505 passengers, 67 rolling cargoes, 26 vessels, and 10 motorized bancas stranded in Cebu and Bohol since Jan. 20 because of tropical depression Amang.

Lt. JG Mike Encina of the PCG Central Visayas said they lifted the suspension of trips after Pagasa also lifted the warning signal.

Pagasa Visayas Chief Engineer Alberto Quiblat Jr. said they lifted the storm warning signal at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, after Amang went northward and was seen 80 kms. northeast of Borongan, Samar.

Encina clarified that Metro Cebu and part of Bohol from Tubigon to Tagbilaran were not included in the warning signal of Pagasa, hence, all the sea transport in these areas continued even after the Sinulog. (EOB)
