CEBU’S Pakistani community donated medicines and vitamins to the Mandaue City Hospital as a way to support the medical facility in its fight against Covid-19.

The Pakistan-Philippine (PakPhil) Friendship Association donated 14 types of medicines, including antibiotics and vitamins, on Monday, July 13, 2020.

Farukh Ahmad, PakPhil-Cebu president, said these donations are their way of showing to Cebuanos that the Pakistani community is with them in fighting Covid-19.

Ahmad said that these medicines could help the Mandaue City Hospital in treating Covid-19 patients.

He said they chose Mandaue City because he has been living in the city for 10 years already.

The donation was also one way for the Pakistani community of giving back to Mandaue City, Ahmad added.

Separately, Dr. Jake Ian Seno, the acting Mandaue City Hospital (MCH) chief, said the medicines that the PakPhil donated to them are a big help to the facility.

The medicines could also help in treating Covid-19-related infections or other infections, he added.

Seno said that the medicines will also help those patients admitted to their hospital who are indigent and do not have enough resources, instead of buying antibiotics with the donation then the hospital can provide.

Aside from Mandaue City, PakPhil also donated the same quantity of medicines to a public hospital in Lapu-Lapu City and they are scheduled to also give another set of medicines to Talisay City within the week.

Ahmad said that these three cities are where most Pakistani nationals are residing. (KFD)
