Palma: ‘Share love, cherish family’

CHRISTMAS is all about love.

So said Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma, who also urged the faithful to cherish the gift of family.

“Sa iyang pagkatawo, diha nato nakita ang iyang dakong gugma (Through Jesus Christ’s birth, we can see His boundless love),” he said.

Palma further said: “Nag-ambit siya sa atong pagkatawo matod pa aron kita yano nga mga tawo mag-ambit sad sa mga bahandi og kinabuhing diyosnon (Jesus became a man, so he could show us the ways to a righteous life).”

The prelate, in his Christmas message, said the faithful should spread love all the time, not just during the Christmas season.

As the Roman Catholic Church prepares for the inter-religious dialogue in 2021, Palma urged the faithful to let Jesus live in their hearts to attain harmony in the community with diverse faiths.

He quoted the late Archbishop Teofilo Camomot, who said, “God is in the heart.”

Palma said that if Christians place God in their hearts, they would embrace everyone as their friends, not minding their religion, race and orientation in life.

“By accepting Christ, we become loving, we become compassionate and we welcome others,” said Palma in a mix of Cebuano and English. (KFD)
