AN EIGHTH grade student of Gothong National High School was arrested in a drug bust by Pardo Police Station personnel in Sitio Sario, Barangay Bulacao, Cebu City at 1:45 am on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020.

The 15-year-old suspect, who hails from B. Aranas Extension in Barangay Duljo Fatima, was caught by the anti-narcotics team led by Pardo Police Station Chief Major John Kareen Escober.

Rey (not his real name) yielded 286.66 grams of white crystals believed to be shabu worth P1.9 million.

Escober said they monitored the suspect in the past two weeks after the latter’s name surfaced as one of the new pushers in the Bulacao area.

Rey was unidentified after his name and contact number were found in the cell phones of pushers caught by the Pardo police.

The surveillance confirmed the minor’s involvement in the illegal drug trade.

Contact

Investigation showed that Rey had been contacting someone inside the Cebu City Jail in Barangay Kalunasan before the arrest happened.

In 2019, Rey’s older brother and brother-in-law were caught in possession of illegal drugs that weighed 700 grams.

Escober said Rey took over his brother and brother-in-law’s illegal business.

The police official said Rey’s brother could be the person communicating with the minor.

Despite his young age, the suspect was described by Escober as a veteran in the illegal drug trade, as he knew what he had been doing.

The suspect was turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development. But he would still face charges. (AYB / RSR)
