OUTGOING Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza gave to the police the P1-million reward money for the 23 informants who helped in solving the murder of 16-year-old Christine Lee Silawan on Friday, June 21, 2019.

The recipients include the current live-in partner and two estranged lovers of Renato Llenes, the self-confessed killer of Silawan.

Radaza turned over the check to Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) Director Limuel Obon in the presence of journalists.

Obon’s name was written on the “pay to the order of” section of the check, so the official would not encounter any problem in the encashment.

According to Radaza, it was appropriate for her to give the check to the LCPO, which solved the murder. Silawan’s body was found on a vacant lot in Barangay Bankal last March. The girl’s face had been skinned to the bone.

Obon praised the city government for its move to reward the informants, who he said were able to help his investigators in finding and arresting Llenes.

Llenes admitted to killing Silawan. But he entered a not guilty plea during his arraignment of his murder case last June 7. Murder is a non-bailable offense. (from GCM of SuperBalita Cebu/KAL)
