TAKING cue from the flight monitoring systems in airports, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Central Visayas will launch it’s I-Care program for marine vessels.

The launch of Oplan I-Care, which is part of PCG’s 51st anniversary, will allow families and travelers to monitor the departures and arrivals of vessels.

PCG’s Community Assistance Response Enforcement has been pushing for the program for the seafaring community. Aside form providing safety of passengers, it will also serve as a center where the public can raise their complaints in relation to their sea travels.

“This oplan is one of the major endeavor by your Coast Guard to address such and have a safe, secure and clean maritime environment,” said PCG 7 spokesperson LTJG Michael John Encina.

Encine said they hope to widen PCG 7’s information campaign.

Also being launched today is the Vinta App, which allows monitoring of vessel location in Central Visayas. (HBL of SuperBalita Cebu)
