Sidewalks in Tabunok will be cleared today

THE City Government of Talisay, Cebu will clear the sidewalks of the national highway in Barangay Tabunok.

This will follow the recent clearing of streets surrounding the public market in Tabunok.

On Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019, the sidewalks near the flyover in Tabunok will be cleared from barriers. The operation is in line with the order of President Rodrigo Duterte, who during his recent State of the Nation Address said that roads should be free from any obstacle.

Tabunok barangay officials have approached the establishments and vendors on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 15-16, informing them that there will be a clearing operation on Saturday.

The business owners were also requested to voluntarily dismantle their structures that blocked the sidewalks.

After the public market’s surrounding streets were cleared, Talisay City traffic czar Jonathan Tumulak said the vehicles’ flow has been smooth in the area.

The City of Talisay Traffic Operations Development Authority personnel will go after the drivers of motor vehicles, including tricycles, who illegally park along sidewalks.

The clearing operation’s aim is to declare Tabunok as a discipline zone following Barangay Poblacion. Declaring a barangay as a discipline zone is a project by the Talisay City Police Station, and it is supported by the City. (From FMD of Superbalita Cebu/KAL)
