THE employees of SM nationwide came out in full force to participate in the Brigada Eskwela 2019.

The malls’ human resources department and SM Cares spearheaded the event, including in Cebu.

Employees volunteered their time to support the Department of Education’s annual classroom clean-up campaign, which prepares schools for the opening of classes next week.

The participants from SM City Consolacion, SM City Cebu and SM Seaside City Cebu repainted tables and chairs in Casili Elementary School in Consolacion, Mabolo Elementary School in Cebu City and Basak Community School in Barangay Basak San Nicolas, Cebu City, respectively.

The SM Employee Volunteerism Program led by SM Cares and the malls’ human resources department encourages employees to exercise their social responsibility and immerse themselves in the community.

The participation in the Brigada Eskwela was done on top of the institutionalized community projects of the company that benefit children, senior citizens, the environment, farmers and persons with disabilities.

SM Cares, a division of SM Foundation, collaborates with communities and various organizations that promote positive change.

SM malls have been supporting the physical upkeep of the schools in the Philippines.

Their activity aims to improve the classroom environment through community-initiated efforts.
