THE 2019 Sustainable Business Awards Philippines recently recognized SM Prime Holdings Inc. (SMPHI) for its active effort in involving stakeholders through its global goal-oriented initiatives.

The recognition was in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG). SMPHI is the secretariat of the Philippine network of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction and Private Sector Alliance for Disaster Resilient Societies. SMPHI is represented by the sole Filipino global board member, Hans T. Sy, SM Prime’s chairman of the executive committee.

SM Prime’s initiatives support the Sendai Framework for Disaster-Risk Reduction that addresses the sustainable development goals to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe and resilient (UNSDG no. 11), and take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts (USNDG no. 13).

The Sustainable Business Awards is organized by Singapore-based Global Initiatives to increase awareness of sustainable business practices, and how it benefits companies, the environment and all stakeholders.
